The City of Tzfat

”אווירא דארץ ישראל מחכים”

בבא בתרא, קנ"ח ב'-

As the Gemara states, “The air of Israel makes you wise,” more particularly, this is a reference to the city of Tzfat, known as “The City of Air.” In this vein, the Lubavitcher Rebbe pointed out the disproportionately significant impact that Tzfat has had on contemporary Jewish life.

The basis of all Jewish law, the Shulchan Aruch, was written in Tzfat. The father of modern-day Kabbalah, the Arizal, revealed his teachings in Tzfat. To this day, even a casual visitor can truly feel a palpable yearning for spirituality in this holy mountaintop city. There’s no more fitting place to ‘exile oneself to a place of Torah.’ Tzfat never fails to fuel the flame of the neshama.

Zohar Sheffield

Tzfat, Israel

“My heart opened up to the sweetest Torah you could imagine. This place breathes life into all that come in contact with it.”
